Hi there! I just came across your blog from Emilybites which I also just found through weight watchers. I just started WW yesterday and it seems extremely easy. Almost too easy. Do you end up using all of your daily points and bonus weekly points? I feel like I will not lose weight if I use them? I also wanted to ask you if you exercise a good amount or is the weight loss mainly from ww? Thanks!!

Hi and welcome!  Emily is fantastic and I’m obsessssssed with her recipes!  So yummy.

Welcome to WW! I can honestly say that joining this program has been one of the best decisions of my life.  It does seem easy, because it is!  If you follow the plan, it will work! I also love the plan because it is adaptable to the twists and turns of life.  Things happen and life gets lifey but Weight Watchers helps you learn how to handle those situations.

As far as my points go….I 100% use all of my daily points.  They are there for a reason….your body needs the nutrition! Also, I found that if I undereat I am way more hungry the next day and end up going overboard with food.  I also eat most of my weekly points.  Again, they are there for a reason!  They also help with the flexibility that makes Weight Watchers so wonderful and easy to do.  I try and save a few weekly points just in case I miscalculated somewhere during the week, but only about 10.  And I definitely eat my Activity Points.  I earned those!

And as for the exercise. I lost my first 60 pounds without doing much activity.  Then I plateaued for about a year and gained 10 pounds.  I knew I needed to add activity in but just wasn’t mentally there yet.  Now that I have been adding activity I have pushed past the plateau and am losing the weight that I gained.  I’m a huge fan of the ActiveLink, ESPECIALLY for people like me who struggle with getting active.  It is a great tool that has really helped me integrate activity into my weight watchers lifestyle.

Ok, that was a lot of information! I’m so glad to have you here….please feel free to ask questions whenever you have them!

Hi! Just found your blog. Also doing WW. Just got back into the swing of things. Do you go to meetings or online?

Hi! And welcome!  Originally I only did online….for the first 10 months or so.  But I was at a plateau and needed a change so I started going to meetings. I really love the support and accountability that meetings provide!

I just received my first order of DAVIDsTEA! I was wondering how you make it. Do you add sugar and milk? Drink it dtraight? I've never been a tea drinker, but a friend recently had me try some tea she made and it was delicious. Then I read about DAVIDsTEA on your blog and HAD to try it. I ordered Birthday Cake, Creme Caramel, Creme Brulee, Mint Chocolate, Cookie Dough, Red Velvet Cake, and Copabanana. Can't wait to try them!

Those flavors sound ah-mazing!  Yum!

So, usually when I drink tea, my favorite is English Breakfast with cream and sugar (or almond milk and splenda!).  When I got my DAVIDsTEA I decided I wanted to try them with as little additives as possible so I could truly have a 0 PointsPlus snack.  Also, I’ve been trying to wean myself off of Splenda and move towards honey.

So I tried all of them plain first.  And if I thought they needed anything extra I added honey.  I have tried milk in a few of them and honestly, I didn’t think it needed it.  So far I have enjoyed all of the teas (that I bought) without milk and with very little to no sweetener.

I would give it a try and see what you like!  I feel like people sometimes take tea so seriously, but really it’s super versatile and can be really fun! There is no wrong way to enjoy a yummy cup of tea. :-) Let me know how it goes!

I am a weight watcher member also. Where can you get the PB2? Also, how many cookies did the recipe for banana oatmeal/chocolate chip cookies make? Thank you!

Hello! I buy my PB2 directly from Bell Plantation, the company that makes it. And the recipe for the cookies made about 16 cookies!

Hi Alexis! I really like your blog - just started following it. I'm 25, also from Chicago and on WW - I noticed that some of the WW points are off on your recipes. You need to use the recipe builder to get accurate PP values. If you build a whole recipe the points will change rather than putting them all in as separate things (Put a banana in the recipe builder and it goes from 0 to 3 points plus! Annoying I know but it is more accurate.) Hopefully it will help in your weight loss journey!

Hi!  Thanks for the note!  There are different schools of thought when it comes to counting fruit in recipes.  I have tried it both ways without any major changes on the scale.  I have spoken with several WW leaders and other members about it and it really is a personal preference.  Thank you for the suggestion though!

Just out of curiosity, what is your daily point allowance? Also, do you typically use all of your weekly points?

Hello!

Currently I have 41 daily PointsPlus.  It really depends on the week if I use all of my Weeklies.  I usually use about 25-30 and leave the extras for those Points that I most likely miscounted somewhere along the week.

Hi, i was just wondering, on your page it says you started May 2011, but the goals page shows no activity for 2012. Did you take a year off? Or did you make a mistake on dates? I am also a 20 something trying to lose half my weight. :)

Hello!

So, to answer your question, no I did not take a year off. Well, not exactly.  I stayed “on program” but wasn’t putting in 100% of the effort so I ended up plateaued for almost a year.  Not cool, but I’m finally motivated to get my butt moving and have started losing weight again.  You can see all of my ups and downs with the scale by clicking the Weight Loss link up above.

Thanks for the question and good luck on your weight loss journey!

I am a newer reader and I was wondering what is your long term goal? I know you have lost 50 pounds but are you wanting to lose more or is 50 where you are happy at? I have been doing WW for 9 weeks now and have lost 20 pounds so I am doing well but what would be an important tip to keep me motivated?

Thanks for the question! Way to go on the 20 pounds!! That is fantastic!

My (very) long term goal is to lose 170 pounds.  That is a huge number so I try not to focus on it. Instead I look at the next small goal. Currently I’m working towards getting back to 60 pounds lost.

As far as keeping motivated, I set goals and rewards for each step along the way.  At the beginning it was mostly small things like mani/pedis.  And when I hit 50 pounds I bought myself some pretty souvenirs in India. Next up I’m working to lose 15 pounds to get me and my husband to Greece.  The rewards don’t need to be that big by any means.  It could just be a fun night out or a new book or movie.  Find something that motivates you….just not food!

Good luck!

Hi Alexis.. I have a question, I know you probably get so many of these so I understand if you can't answer it. I love following your blog and following you on facebook. Im on my 7th week of WW and I keep reading about the points plus program and the 360 program, what do you follow and whats the difference? i just do it on my own I wish I could go to meetings but just cant afford it. I just want to know if im doing things right. Thank you so much... and thank you for the blog updates love it

Hi!  Glad to have you!  So, I may not have this right, but I this is what I think.  I don’t think there is a huge difference between the PointsPlus and the 360.  From my understanding, the 360 added the focus of spaces and routines along with the PointsPlus tracking.  I have really liked the changes so far and find the routines to be really helpful! But aside from that, I don’t think much has changed.  I hope that helps!

I just started weight watchers a month ago so far 9 lbs lost. How have u done so far?

Way to go!  That is awesome!  You can see all of my ups and downs with the scale HERE.

So I found your blog via Pinterest and I really enjoy all your different weight watcher friendly recipes. I am also a twenty something newly engaged girl looking to drop some weight before my wedding and have recently joined weight watchers. My question is how do you figure your pointsplus for your recipes? Do you individually figure out how many points each item is worth? Thank you!! -A future skinny girl!

Hi!  Thanks for the note and welcome to WW!

As far as the PointsPlus go, if it is MY recipe, I usually put them into the eTools recipe builder.  A lot of the recipes that I cook are from other blogs (and I ALWAYS link back to the original post/recipe).  Most of the recipes that I cook come from Emily Bites or SkinnyTaste and both of the authors of those blogs post the nutrition information as well as the Weight Watchers PointsPlus.

And the librarian in me must say that you can never trust things you read on the internet and you should always double check your sources! :-) I almost always enter the nutrition info from a recipe into eTools and calculate it for myself, just to be sure.  Typos and errors can happen!

How many activity points do you track for Zumba? I'm bummed that WW doesn't have it listed even though they have an article on etools promoting it.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a great answer for you.  I use the ActiveLink which calculates my activity points for me.  I know that there is a Zumba option within the ActiveLink page, so maybe there is one hidden in the etools?  Or maybe you could use an aerobic workout?  I’m sorry I don’t have a better answer for you!
